A poverty report entitled Pattern and Trends of Poverty in Ghana was launched on 26th April, 2007 by the Ag.govt.Statistician Prof.N.N.N.Nsowah-Nuamah.The report used data from the fifth (5th) round of the Ghana Living Standards Survey (GLSS 5). The launch of the report is in fulfillment of one of the three (3) objectives of the G.L.S.S. 5.They are: 1. Provision of basic indicators for monitoring the G.P.R.S. and M.D.G.s 2. Revision of weights for compiling the C.P.I. 3. Provision of inputs into poverty mapping in the country.
Launching the report, Prof.N.N.N.Nsowah-Nuamah indicated that “poverty levels in all the regions declined except Gt.Accra where poverty levels doubled from 5.2 percent in 1998/1999 to 11.8percent in 2005/2006”.
