GSS Collaborating with Academics from The Nation’s Public Universities

Ghana Statistical Service is currently finalizing the training materials for the upcoming Population and Housing census with the support of twelve (12) Curriculum Reviewers made up of faculty from University of Cape Coast, University of Education, Winneba, University for Development Studies, and University of Ghana. The Curriculum Reviewers, who have expertise in the areas of Social Statistics, Economics, Population and Development, Education, Development Studies and Demography, bring with them considerable experience to provide technical assistance to the Technical workstream of the census. In addition, the Curriculum Reviewers offer unique support in other domains on the Census preparatory activities including technical guidance on strategic decisions related to training, fieldwork, mapping, and quality assurance. In January, the Curriculum Reviewers started working with the Technical workstream of the  Population and Housing Census to review training materials (manuals, trainers guides, and presentations), assess the training methodology and facilitate the in-person training of Master Trainers. When training transitioned to virtual in March due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the Curriculum Reviewers continued to participate in the virtual training by serving as panelists in the training sessions and assessors for the assessment of trainers. After the finalization of the training materials, this strategic partnership will continue with the Curriculum Reviewers monitoring training at the lower levels.
